Security Guard Held for Shooting at Dumper Accident Protest

05 November, 2025 10:10

Police have arrested a security guard accused of opening fire on citizens protesting a dumper truck accident in Karachi’s Ram Swami area.

The incident occurred a few days ago when residents staged a protest after a man was killed by a speeding dumper. According to police, the firing was carried out by a guard employed by Liaqat Mehsud, the president of the Dumper Association. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Police traced the accused using modern technology and CCTV footage, eventually arresting him from the Sohrab Goth area. Authorities said the weapon used in the incident has also been recovered, and further investigation is underway.

Local residents complained that dumper truck accidents have become increasingly common in Karachi and urged the government to take immediate action to prevent such tragedies.

Meanwhile, police have also registered a case under the PECA Act against MQM leader Kamran Farooqui. According to officials, a video circulating on social media showed Farooqui allegedly threatening to set a police officer on fire after the accident.

Police officials said that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands and that strict action will continue against those who attempt to create fear among citizens.
