Local holiday announced in Sindh district - check date
The deputy commissioner of Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, has declared a public holiday on November 17 (Monday) in connection with the 754th annual Urs of Syed Asghar Ali Shah, also known as Sakhi Jam Datar.
According to an official notification issued on Friday, the holiday will be observed across the Shaheed Benazirabad district, giving residents a chance to participate in the annual spiritual celebrations.
Three-Day Urs Celebrations
The three-day Urs will take place at Jam Sahib from November 17 to 19, celebrating the rich spiritual and cultural traditions linked to Sakhi Jam Datar, one of Sindhβs most respected Sufi saints.
Deputy Commissioner Nizamani shared that the district administration is fully prepared to ensure smooth arrangements and proper facilities for devotees arriving from various parts of Sindh and other provinces.
10th Thal Jeep Rally Kicks Off
In another event, the 10th Thal Jeep Rally began with great excitement as the venue was beautifully decorated and registration completed on the first day. Around 100 male and female drivers have registered to compete in the rally.
The opening day included technical inspections, tagging, and medical check-ups of all participants. The qualifying round will feature drivers showcasing their skills on a three-kilometer desert track in Muzaffargarh.
Rally Dedicated to Flood Victims
Former champion Nader Magsi expressed happiness that this yearβs rally is dedicated to flood victims, calling it βa symbol of resilience and hope.β
He said, βItβs been 10 years, and the rally continues to grow with a large number of fans attending. This year, the track is excellent and the drivers will really enjoy it.β
Magsi added that despite early concerns about flood damage, the rally has been successfully organized, with proceeds and attention going toward flood-affected communities.
To celebrate the jeep rally and local fair, the deputy commissioner of Muzaffargarh has also announced a local holiday on Saturday, November 8, across the district. The aim is to allow citizens to attend and enjoy the event with full enthusiasm.
