Iran Accuses US of Direct Role in Israel’s June Attack on Tehran

08 November, 2025 08:30

TEHRAN: Iran has accused the United States of being directly involved in Israel’s June 2025 aggression against Tehran, calling recent comments by US President Donald Trump “clear proof” of Washington’s complicity in the attacks.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Trump’s public claim that he was “very much in charge” of the Israeli assault confirmed that the US played an active and unlawful role in the aggression.

“This admission is undeniable evidence of America’s direct involvement and active complicity in Israel’s unprovoked attack on Iran,” Baghaei said.

He recalled that at the start of the war, US officials denied any role, quoting then–Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said on June 13, 2025, that the strikes were a “unilateral action” by Israel and that Washington was “not involved.”

Baghaei rejected those claims as false, saying it was “clear from the very beginning that the United States was fully participating in Israel’s crime of aggression.”

He added that Trump’s latest remarks were an open acknowledgment of US responsibility for what Iran views as a serious violation of international law and the UN Charter.

Baghaei urged the international community to hold Washington accountable for its “flagrant violation” and “atrocious wrongdoing.”

According to Iranian officials, Israel launched an unprovoked war on June 13, targeting senior Iranian military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. A week later, the United States joined the attacks, bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in what Tehran described as a grave breach of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Iran claims it successfully retaliated on June 24, halting what it called an illegal joint assault by Israel and the US.

Speaking at the White House on Thursday, Trump appeared to take full credit for the attacks: “Israel attacked first. That attack was very, very powerful. I was very much in charge of that,” he said.

The comments contradict earlier US statements and have reignited debate about Washington’s role in the Middle East conflict.

Trump, who once campaigned as a “peace candidate,” has repeatedly boasted that the US “totally obliterated” Iran’s nuclear program — remarks Tehran dismisses as false and provocative.

At the time of the assault, Secretary Rubio emphasized that the US “was not involved in strikes against Iran” and was focused on protecting American forces in the region — a statement Iran now calls a blatant lie for this article?
