Educational Institutions in Quetta Closed Till November 16
In a move aimed at ensuring safety amid rising security concerns, all educational institutions in Quetta will remain closed until November 16. The decision was confirmed by local authorities, citing security risks as the primary reason for the suspension of academic activities.
As per the sources, all schools and colleges in the Quetta Cantonment area have been temporarily shut down for the safety of both students and staff. This closure follows a wider security alert issued by the Balochistan Home Department, which also announced the suspension of internet and mobile data services across the province, effective from November 10 through November 16. However, the city of Quetta has been partially exempted from the internet ban, with some residents still experiencing disruptions in mobile and internet services in certain areas.
The suspension of educational institutions comes as authorities continue to monitor the security situation in the region. While internet access remains restricted in rural parts of Balochistan, the government has urged the public to remain vigilant and follow all security advisories. Officials have emphasized that public safety remains the top priority during this time of heightened tension.
In addition to the school closures, train services in Balochistan have also been significantly affected. The Jaffar Express, which runs between Quetta and Peshawar, has been suspended for the fifth consecutive day due to security reasons. Pakistan Railways has confirmed that the train service will remain halted until November 13, although there is a possibility of an extension. Furthermore, the Bolan Mail service, which connects Balochistan to Karachi, has also been temporarily suspended for similar operational and security concerns.
Authorities are urging residents to stay informed about the evolving situation and to comply with the ongoing security measures.
