Three Judges Take Oath After Appointment to Federal Constitutional Court
Three of the six newly appointed judges of Pakistan’s Federal Constitutional Court have officially taken their oath of office. In this first phase, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Aamer Farooq were sworn in.
The oath ceremony was led by the first Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court, Justice Aminuddin Khan. Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar was also present at the event.
Earlier, the Ministry of Law issued a notification confirming the appointment of all six judges. According to the notification, the Federal Constitutional Court includes Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Aamer Farooq, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Justice K. K. Agha, Justice Rozi Khan from Balochistan and Justice Arshad Hussain Shah from the Peshawar High Court.
This major development comes a day after Supreme Court judges Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah resigned from their positions due to concerns over the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Their resignations took place shortly before the new Federal Constitutional Court began its work.
