Pakistan-Russia Hold First Consultations on Asian Security in Islamabad
Pakistan and Russia held their first-ever consultations on security issues in Asia in Islamabad. The meeting brought together Mr. Aleksei Ovchinnikov, Director General for Asia & Pacific Cooperation at the Russian Foreign Ministry, and Ambassador Tahir Andrabi, Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary and Foreign Office Spokesperson.
Both sides discussed key regional security challenges, emerging alliances, and new opportunities for cooperation. The talks focused on how Pakistan and Russia can work together to promote stability in the region.
During his visit, DG Ovchinnikov also met Ambassador Imran Siddiqui, Additional Foreign Secretary for Asia Pacific. He further participated in an interaction at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), where experts shared views on regional security trends.
Pakistan said it values its growing partnership with Russia and remains committed to dialogue and cooperation. Both countries agreed that continued engagement is important for promoting peace and stability in Asia.
