Lahore High Court Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza Resigns over Personal Reasons
Who is Shams Mahmood Mirza? Lahore High Court Justice Resigns
Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza of the Lahore High Court has resigned from his position, according to reports from national media. His resignation has been formally submitted to President Asif Ali Zardari.
Sources indicate that Justice Mirza stepped down due to personal reasons. He was fifth on the Lahore High Court’s seniority list.
His resignation comes shortly after two Supreme Court judges — Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah — also resigned from their posts. Both had sent their resignations to the President, who later accepted them.
The departures follow their recent reservations regarding the establishment of the Federal Constitutional Court, created under the newly approved 27th Constitutional Amendment. President Zardari recently administered the oath to the newly appointed Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Amin-ud-Din Khan.
The series of resignations has sparked discussion within legal and political circles, raising questions about the evolving judicial structure in Pakistan after the passage of the constitutional amendment.
