Rangers Arrest Most Wanted Lyari Gang Commander Shaukat Ali

Shaukat Ali, also known as Agha Shaukat, a notorious commander involved in the Lyari gang war, was arrested by the Rangers during a targeted operation in Lyari on Sunday, the paramilitary force announced.

A Rangers spokesman confirmed the arrest, stating that Shaukat Ali, a key figure in the gang war, was apprehended along with a cache of arms and ammunition recovered from his possession. The Sindh government had previously announced a reward for the arrest of the accused, further underscoring the significance of his capture.

According to the Rangers, Shaukat Ali’s criminal history dates back to 2004, when he joined the infamous Abdul Rehman Dakait group. He later became a member of the People’s Aman Committee in 2009 and the Baba Ladla group in 2013. Over the years, Ali became a key player in various criminal activities, including targeted killings, extortion, drug trafficking, and numerous violent encounters with law enforcement.

The Rangers spokesman highlighted that, during the Karachi Operation against criminal elements, Shaukat Ali fled the country and went into hiding. However, he recently returned to Pakistan and attempted to rebuild his criminal network.

In recognition of his criminal activities, Shaukat Ali’s name had been added to the CTD’s Red Book, a list of most wanted terrorists. He has been implicated in several cases, including murder, attempted murder, and terrorism.

Following his arrest, the accused was handed over to the police, along with the seized weapons. Authorities have vowed to continue their efforts to dismantle criminal gangs in the region.
