Iran Blames Israel for Deepening Gaza’s Humanitarian Crisis
Tehran: Iran has strongly criticized Israel for continuing the killing of Palestinians and violating human rights in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Sunday that the blockade on Gaza, along with Israel’s restrictions on removing debris and rebuilding hospitals and essential infrastructure, has made the humanitarian crisis even worse—especially during the cold and rainy weather.
He described Israel’s actions as part of a “genocide policy” against the Palestinian people.
Heavy Rain Floods Tents in Gaza
According to Gaza’s Civil Defense, dozens of tents sheltering displaced families in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis were flooded after three days of heavy rain and strong winds. Weather experts said that conditions were expected to improve by Sunday evening.
Attacks in the West Bank
Baghaei also condemned Israeli settlers for increasing their attacks in the West Bank. He said settlers have been:
- Desecrating holy sites, including Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque
- Arresting Palestinians without cause
- Torturing detainees
He said the international community has a legal and moral duty to stop Israel’s crimes.
Baghaei argued that the violence in the West Bank reflects the same “colonial extermination” policy that has killed tens of thousands of civilians in Gaza over the past two years.
US and Europe Accused of Complicity
The spokesman added that military and political support from the United States and some European countries has made them complicit in Israel’s actions. He said the world must end impunity for war criminals and those responsible for genocide.
Even after a so-called ceasefire in October, Baghaei said Israel continued sporadic bombings, which killed hundreds of Palestinians in recent weeks.
Humanitarian Crisis Worsens Before Winter
More than 80% of buildings in Gaza are destroyed, leaving large areas unlivable. With winter approaching, the situation is expected to become even more dangerous. Aid is still arriving slowly and in insufficient amounts.
