Lasting Peace Not Possible Without Palestinians — Asim Iftikhar
Pakistani Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Asim Iftikhar stated on Tuesday that lasting peace is not possible without the support of the people of Palestine.
Talking at the UN Security Council meeting, the Algerian representative said that the Palestinian authority has backed US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.
Asim Iftikhar, the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to New York, has also addressed the meeting, stating that he was grateful to the Security Council for presenting and approving the resolution.
However, the Pakistani delegate to the NYC remarked that Pakistan supports President Trump’s Gaza peace plan in order to end grave human rights violations in Gaza.
Asim Iftikhar further added that there should be a complete Israeli forces’ withdrawal from Gaza, demanding the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The envoy went on to say that eight Muslim countries, including Pakistan, have supported President Trump’s peace plan, and Pakistan also voted in favor of the plan.
Furthermore, concluding the speech, he admitted that Pakistan welcomes President Trump’s Gaza peace plan, adding that permanent peace is not possible without the support of the Palestinians.
