WhatsApp Finally Allows iPhone Users to Use Multiple Accounts — Check More Details

20 November, 2025 11:04

WhatsApp has started testing one of its most requested features for iPhone users — the ability to run multiple accounts inside the same app. The upgrade appears in the latest TestFlight beta and finally removes the need for workarounds or using WhatsApp Business as a second app.

In this new version, users will see a fresh “Account List” option inside the settings menu. From there, they can add a second WhatsApp account using another phone number, a linked device, or by scanning a QR code. Each account keeps its own chat history, iCloud backup, notifications, and privacy settings, so personal and work conversations stay completely separate. WhatsApp will also show which account a message belongs to, helping users avoid mixing chats by mistake.

Currently, the feature supports only two accounts, but early testers say it works smoothly with App Lock, Face ID, and Touch ID. This means each account can be protected independently, giving users extra privacy even when a device is shared.

WhatsApp has not announced a public release date yet, but the beta rollout suggests the feature is nearing wider availability. For freelancers, business owners, and anyone who needs two different WhatsApp numbers, this update is a big improvement. Until now, users often had to rely on separate devices or complicated setups.

WhatsApp Finally Lets iPhone Users Run Multiple Accounts

According to WABetaInfo, those in the testing phase will see an “Account List” section in settings or a new button next to the QR code icon. This lets users switch or add accounts directly, without linking another phone or downloading extra apps. The platform confirms that notifications will clearly identify which account received the message.

Over the past two years, WhatsApp has introduced multi-device support, stronger privacy tools, and early identity features that could eventually reduce reliance on phone numbers. Native multi-account support is another step toward a more flexible messaging experience, allowing users to shift between roles or identities effortlessly.

Some questions remain as testing continues: Will WhatsApp allow more than two accounts? Will this feature expand to Android soon? And how will it work once usernames roll out?

WhatsApp is also preparing to introduce usernames in early 2026, alongside major updates to support more devices. The platform currently serves over 2 billion daily users worldwide, and multi-account access marks one of its most practical upgrades yet.
