Jake Paul Makes Confident Prediction Ahead of High-Stakes Fight With Anthony Joshua
YouTuber-turned-professional boxer Jake Paul has stirred major headlines with a bold prediction ahead of his highly anticipated showdown with former two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Confident in his abilities, Paul has drawn comparisons to one of boxing’s greatest upsets — Buster Douglas’s historic knockout win over Mike Tyson — as he predicts a fifth-round knockout in his favor.
The upcoming bout marks one of the biggest challenges of Paul’s career, especially considering he will be entering the ring against a prime heavyweight contender, not a retired champion, a UFC fighter, or an opponent significantly smaller in size. During their recent faceoff in Miami, the physical contrast was evident: Joshua, standing 6-foot-6, towered over the 6-foot-1 Paul. Yet the height difference did little to deter Paul’s confidence.
Speaking at the event, Paul declared, “I’m here to shock the world. I know what I’m capable of. People say, ‘Oh, he’s out of his mind.’ I’ve gotten to where I am today because of delusional optimism. No one thinks I’m going to win, so join the list and be ready to be surprised.”
At 28, Paul holds a 12–1 professional record after five years in the sport. His resume includes an eight-round victory over 58-year-old Mike Tyson in front of 72,300 spectators, as well as wins against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., UFC legends Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz, and a viral knockout of former NBA player Nate Robinson.
Joshua, meanwhile, boasts a 28–4 record with 25 knockouts and remains one of boxing’s most powerful punchers. He famously defeated Wladimir Klitschko in 2017 to secure the WBA (Super) and IBO titles.
Despite the odds, Paul believes his speed and mobility—traits of a smaller fighter—could give him an advantage. He explained that heavyweights often struggle with faster opponents, adding, “I believe that fighting a smaller man is often harder for a heavyweight because of the speed difference and footwork, all that power is great, but I just have to avoid that one shot. I believe I can do that. I know I can pick him apart and score points.”
The highly anticipated fight is scheduled for 19 December in Miami, Florida, drawing worldwide attention as fans wait to see whether Paul can deliver on his stunning prediction.
