Pakistan Foils Fitna Al-Khwarij Infiltration as Afghan Taliban Posts Targeted in Kurram

KURRAM: Pakistan’s security forces have foiled an attempted infiltration by Fitna Al-Khwarij from Afghanistan into the Kurram sector, according to security sources.

The sources said the infiltration attempt originated from Afghan Taliban posts in Nangarhar and Paktia provinces and was thwarted by Pakistani troops deployed along the border.

Afghan Taliban Posts Targeted

Following the failed infiltration attempt, Afghan Taliban forces opened fire on Pakistani border posts in the Kurram sector, according to the security sources.

The sources said the Afghan Taliban used heavy weapons, mortars and other arms to target Pakistani positions.

Pakistan’s security forces responded by targeting several Afghan Taliban border posts, mortar positions and defensive positions with small and heavy weapons, including artillery.

Several Posts Reportedly Abandoned

According to the security sources, the Pakistani response forced Afghan Taliban personnel to abandon several posts and retreat.

The sources said Pakistani forces maintained control of the border areas and remained on high alert to respond to any further escalation.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and continued accusations between Islamabad and Kabul over cross-border militancy. Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities have rejected Pakistan’s accusations regarding militant activity originating from Afghan territory.

Security forces are continuing to monitor the situation along the Kurram border, according to the sources.

The latest incident follows a series of recent clashes and militant infiltration attempts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, highlighting continuing security tensions between the two countries.
