Pakistan Presses for Withdrawal of Zionist Forces, End to Occupation
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Asim Iftikhar, made it clear in unequivocal terms that Pakistan will continue to fully support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar, informed the Security Council about the violations of the ceasefire agreement by the Israeli army in Gaza.
He told the Security Council that Israeli ceasefire violations in Gaza continue, that more than 300 Palestinians have been martyred since the ceasefire was announced, that homes are still being destroyed in Gaza, and that people are living in fear.
Asim Iftikhar strongly condemned the attacks in Gaza and called for the withdrawal of the Israeli army, while also clarifying that full implementation of Security Council Resolution 2803 is necessary for full adherence to the ceasefire in Gaza and the establishment of immediate peace.
The envoy to the United Nations called for urgent measures for the Palestinian people. Asim Iftikhar urged the Security Council to ensure full implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza.
Iftikhar also stressed the need for unhindered humanitarian assistance and called for immediate protection and widespread assistance to the beleaguered people of Gaza in the face of the winter. He also called for the immediate start of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Gaza and said that no annexation or forced displacement should take place under any circumstances.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative made it clear during a briefing at the Security Council that Pakistan stands with Palestine in its struggle to establish an independent state.
He said that Israeli occupation of all Arab territories should end and a Palestinian state should be established with Jerusalem as its capital.
