93,000 E-Challans in Karachi's First 30 Days – Here's How Much Was Collected!
The e-challan system in Karachi has been in place for 30 days, and over 93,000 traffic fines have been issued so far.
The highest number of fines, 57,541, were given for not wearing seat belts. Additionally, 22,227 fines were issued to motorcycle riders who weren’t wearing helmets.
Using trackers in dump trucks, trailers, and water tankers, 1,188 fines were given for speeding. Another 2,699 fines were issued for speeding in other vehicles.
There were also 3,102 fines for running red lights.
Other violations included 1,278 fines for having fancy number plates, 1,178 fines for tinted windows, 611 fines for not stopping at stop lines, and 426 fines for driving the wrong way.
The traffic police reported that a total of Rs 575.41 million in fines were collected for not wearing seat belts, Rs 111.13 million for not wearing helmets, and Rs 29.45 million for tinted windows.
