How to change your phone number on Google Account – Step-by-step guide

If you want to change the phone number linked to your Google account, Google makes it easy to update it. Your phone number is important for account verification, password resets, and two-factor authentication alerts.

Steps to Update Your Phone Number

If you have multiple accounts or have moved to a new country, you can follow these steps to update your number:

1. Go to myaccount.google.com and sign in, or open the Gmail app.

2. On Gmail, tap your profile photo and select Manage your Google Account.

3. Choose the Personal info tab from the side menu.

4. Go to Contact info and then Phone number.

5. Tap your current phone number and click the edit icon.

6. Verify your password and device, then click Next.

7. Enter your new phone number.

8. Google will send a verification code via SMS.

9. Enter the code to complete the verification.

Once updated, your new phone number will be used for account recovery and verification. You can also delete the old number by selecting the Delete option next to it to avoid confusion and improve account security.
