Netflix Releases Trailer for New True Crime Doc ‘Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart’
Netflix has recently dropped a trailer for an upcoming real crime thriller based on a terrible child kidnapping case that captivated the country.
According to the Mirror, this documentary comes after the publication of other well-known films, including Missing: Dead or Alive, My Father, The BTK Killer, and The Perfect Neighbor.
The abduction of American activist Elizabeth Smart, who was 14 years old when she was kidnapped from her bedroom in the dark of night in Salt Lake City, Utah, is explored in the new documentary Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart.
Netflix has produced a trailer for the show, which is scheduled to debut in the new year and features police and family members talking about the disappearance of an American teen. When Elizabeth was kidnapped, residents of the “nice” neighborhood banded together to find her.
In the trailer, a researcher says, “By strongly denying any involvement, as was later said, that law enforcement had mistakenly accused him, this case captivated the nation. There was a sense of, ‘Is it the family? Could he be involved?'”
As the movie trailer goes on, it becomes clear that Mary Katherine Smart, Elizabeth’s younger sister, who was nine years old at the time and in the same room, saw her sibling carried away. “I knew I’d heard the voice; I just couldn’t remember where I’d heard it from,” Mary Katherine shares with the cameras.
Gradually, Mary Katherine succeeded in tracing the voice, and she thought she searched for the kidnapper, a progress that proved to be significant for advancing the probe. However, the doc kidnapped: The Elizabeth Smart teaser ended with haunting actions, centering closely on Elizabeth’s eyes as she claimed, “I just wanted to tell them. I’m still alive.”
