How Pakistanis can apply for German work visas online - check details
Germany, one of Europe’s strongest economies, offers different types of work visas for skilled and educated people who want to work and contribute to the country’s growth.
Recently, the German Consulate General in Karachi announced the launch of an online portal that allows people in Pakistan to apply for employment visas easily. Applicants can now submit their work visa applications online without visiting the consulate in person.
The consulate also shared details of the work visa options available for Pakistanis.
Types of German Work Visas
Opportunity Card
The Opportunity Card allows non-EU citizens to enter Germany to look for a job or get their foreign qualifications recognized. Applicants are selected through a points-based system based on education, skills, and personal factors. A minimum of six points is required.
EU Blue Card
The Blue Card (EU) is for skilled non-EU professionals with a university degree or IT experience. It allows them to work in Germany if they meet the required conditions. Applications are submitted to the local foreigners’ office in Germany.
Employment as an Academic
Non-EU skilled workers can apply for a residence permit to work in Germany if they meet eligibility criteria. Applications are made at the Aliens’ Office in Germany.
Skilled Worker with Vocational Training
Workers with vocational training from non-EU countries can apply for a residence permit if they meet the requirements. A visa for entry can be applied for online through the Consular Services Portal or at a German mission.
Employment with Work Experience
Non-EU nationals with relevant work experience can apply for a residence permit to work in Germany. Entry visas can be obtained online or from a local German mission.
Employment under a Placement Agreement
Skilled workers must have a recognized professional qualification to work in Germany. This qualification must be approved before entering the country.
Qualification Assessment
If a professional qualification is not yet recognized, skilled workers can apply for a qualification assessment in Germany. This process evaluates skills and knowledge and can be used if documents are missing or recognition is delayed. A visa is required to enter Germany for this purpose.
