Nation Remembers APS Peshawar Martyrs on 11th Anniversary
Today marks 11 years since the tragic terrorist attack on Army Public School (APS) Peshawar.
On December 16, 2014, innocent children were targeted in the worst tragedy in the country’s history, which plunged the entire nation into mourning.
In this heartbreaking incident, terrorists entered the school and opened indiscriminate fire, resulting in the martyrdom of 132 students, teachers, and staff members, and a total of 147 precious lives lost.
This tragedy is a wound in the heart of every parent that is still fresh today and that shook the entire world.
According to the investigation, the attackers were trained and armed from across the border. The terrorists entered the school in the morning and mercilessly targeted the unarmed children.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Pakistan Army personnel immediately reached the spot and took full action, killing all the attackers.
After the APS tragedy, the atmosphere in Peshawar became mournful, funerals were seen everywhere, and the city of flowers was drowned in sighs and sobs.
This one day paved the way for decisive action against terrorism in the country, after which nationwide operations were launched against the extremists.
Even today, Pakistan faces the challenges of cross-border terrorism. The Pakistani armed forces and the people are fighting together against the elements hostile to peace.
The nation reiterates its resolve that through mutual unity, the country will be led towards a secure, peaceful, and bright future.
President Asif Zardari pays tribute to APS martyrs
President Asif Ali Zardari, while paying tribute to the martyrs of APS, has said that the nation will never forget the sacrifice of these children.
President Zardari said that Pakistan’s resolve against terrorism is unwavering and no talks are possible with those who take up arms against the state.
He made it clear that no leniency will be shown towards terrorists, facilitators, and aides, and every terrorist and his facilitator will be pursued.
He also strongly condemned Indian-sponsored terrorism and said that Pakistan will continue to expose enemy elements.
The President said that the enemies of peace will never be allowed to succeed, and the memory of the martyrs of APS further strengthens our resolve.
