Battle of Truth: Modi Faces Major Political-Military Embarrassment in Conflict Against Pakistan
The defeat of India at the hands of Pakistan in the recent conflict, “Battle of Truth,” has become a major political and military embarrassment for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Many political and social leaders in India, including senior military officials, have admitted the severity of the loss. Despite attempts to cover up the setback with propaganda and media narratives, Modi could not hide the outcome.
Congress leader Prithviraj Chauhan stated, “We faced a complete retreat at the hands of Pakistan on the very first day of the war. On May 7, in just half an hour of air combat, we were completely defeated by Pakistan.” He further added, “Indian planes were shot down, and the entire Indian Air Force was grounded. More aircraft did not take off due to fear of being shot down. Any plane attempting to take off from Bathinda or elsewhere faced significant risk.”
The Indian military leadership has repeatedly acknowledged the heavy losses of aircraft during Operation Sindoor. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi also highlighted India’s failure in the operation.
On May 11, Air Marshal A.K., Director General of Air Operations, admitted, “There are casualties in war.” Later, on May 31, Indian Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan said, “It is not important how many planes are shot down; it is important why they are shot down.”
International media and leaders have also exposed India’s defeat in Baniyan Al-Marsoos, contradicting India’s self-created narrative. Even US President Donald Trump acknowledged that Pakistan shot down Indian aircraft.
Ultimately, even a reluctant Modi may have to confront his historic failure and the complete retreat at the hands of Pakistan.
