Sydney Beach Attack: Shocking Police Revelations About the Attackers

22 December, 2025 12:01

Australian police have informed the court that “before the shooting at Bondi Beach during the event, the attackers also threw homemade bombs at the crowd, which fortunately did not explode.”

According to court documents, the attack on 14 December at Bondi Beach Park left 15 people dead and dozens injured, shocking the nation and prompting calls for stricter gun laws and stronger action against anti-Semitism.

Police reported that the alleged attacker Sajid Akram was armed with six weapons. His 24-year-old son, Naveed Akram, has been charged with murder, terrorism, and 59 other offenses.

The police fact sheet revealed that the father and son had been planning the attack for several months and had even conducted reconnaissance of Bondi coastal park two days prior to the incident. Images in the police report showed the pair practicing with weapons in a remote area of New South Wales. Authorities also obtained a video made in October, which shows both men explaining the reasons for the attack while sitting in front of the flag of an extremist organization.

On the morning of the attack, CCTV footage showed the duo placing heavy objects wrapped in blankets into a vehicle. These included shotguns, rifles, pipe bombs, tennis ball bombs, and a large homemade explosive device.

“Before opening fire, the attackers threw pipe bombs and tennis ball bombs at the crowd, but they failed to detonate,” the court statement said.

Police later recovered bomb-making materials and parts for 3D-printed weapons from a rented property.

Following the incident, the New South Wales Parliament was convened urgently, where lawmakers are considering stricter gun ownership regulations, bans on terrorist symbols, and new laws regarding public protests.
