PMD Predicts Rain, Thundershowers, and Intense Cold Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast for Monday, warning of cold and dry weather in most parts of the country, with the upper regions experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy conditions. Strong winds and thundershowers are expected in north and western Balochistan, while moderate to heavy fog may affect the plain districts of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning and night hours.

According to the PMD, Islamabad and surrounding areas will experience cold and dry conditions with partly cloudy skies, while most of Punjab will see chillier temperatures. Upper districts, along with Murree, Galiyat, and nearby regions, will remain cold and partly cloudy. Cities including Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Jhang, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, and Multan are expected to face moderate to heavy fog, reducing visibility during early morning and late-night hours.

In Sindh, cold and partly cloudy weather will prevail, including in Karachi, with fog likely in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Shaheed Benazirabad. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will also experience cold temperatures and partly cloudy skies, with light rain or snowfall expected in Kohistan, Battagram, and Chitral during evening and night hours.

Balochistan will see cold and dry weather overall, with northern areas experiencing extremely low temperatures. Central and southern regions, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, and Pishin, may face strong winds and thundershowers, while mountainous areas are likely to witness snowfall.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to remain very cold and partly cloudy, with light rain and snowfall at a few locations.

The PMD has advised residents to take necessary precautions, especially in areas affected by fog and thundershowers, as Pakistan braces for a particularly cold start to the week.
