Iran Warns Trump as Armed Forces Put on Alert

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned US President Donald Trump to stay out of Iran’s internal matters, calling his recent remarks “reckless and dangerous.” He said Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared to defend the country if its sovereignty is threatened.
In a post on X on Friday, Araghchi said recent protests in Iran were mostly peaceful and focused on economic issues, especially the sharp fall of the national currency. He said people affected by exchange rate volatility have the right to protest peacefully.
However, he added that there were a few violent incidents, including attacks on a police station and Molotov cocktails thrown at police officers. Araghchi stressed that such violence cannot be justified anywhere in the world.
Referring to Trump’s actions inside the United States, Araghchi said the US president should understand that attacks on public property are unacceptable. He pointed to Trump’s past decision to deploy the National Guard within US borders to control unrest.
The Iranian foreign minister was responding to a social media post by Trump in which the US president claimed American forces were “locked and loaded,” threatening Iran with possible military action. Trump made the comments while referring to protests triggered by Iran’s weakening currency.
Araghchi warned that such language only increases tension and instability in the region. He said Trump’s comments appear to be influenced by people who oppose diplomacy or believe it is unnecessary.
He added that Iranians have always rejected foreign interference and will continue to do so. Araghchi said Iran’s military is on full alert and knows how to respond if the country’s sovereignty is violated.
Protests began on Sunday after some shopkeepers in Tehran temporarily shut their businesses to protest the sharp fall of the rial, which recently hit record lows against the US dollar. Iranian officials have admitted that people are under economic pressure but insist that foreign elements are trying to exploit the situation.
Earlier on Friday, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, also warned Trump against intervention. He said any US involvement would destabilize the region and harm America’s own interests.
Separately, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf issued a strong warning, saying any US military action would make American forces and bases in the region “legitimate targets” for Iran in response to what he called US “adventurism.”
