FBR Records Highest-Ever December Tax Collection

Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected record taxes last month compared to December of any year.

FBR officials told Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in a briefing on tax revenue collection that the FBR collected Rs 1,427.1 billion in tax revenue in December, which is 99 percent of the monthly target of Rs 1,446 billion.

According to officials, this is the highest tax collection ever in December of any year. Similarly, the Inland Revenue Service performed brilliantly, collecting Rs 1,308 billion against the target of Rs 1,310 billion, which is 99.8 percent.

In addition, tax collection increased by 59 percent in December compared to November. In November, collection was Rs. 898 billion, which increased to Rs. 1427.1 billion in December.
