NEPRA Approves Uniform Electricity Tariff for K-Electric, DISCOs

13 January, 2026 11:50

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a formal decision following a request from the federal government to implement a uniform electricity tariff for K-Electric and all Distribution Companies (DISCOs).

Under this new directive, the basic tariff structure will remain consistent for consumers nationwide. For the year 2026, NEPRA has approved an overall reduction of 62 paise per unit in the basic electricity tariff, and this decision has been forwarded to the federal government for final implementation.

The tariff for protected consumers using between one and 100 units will stay at Rs 10.54, while the rate for those using 101 to 200 units is proposed to be maintained at Rs 13.01. For lifeline domestic consumers, the rate remains at Rs 3.95 for up to 50 units per month and Rs 7.74 for consumption between 51 and 100 units.

Non-protected domestic consumers will face a tiered pricing structure where the rate for the first 100 units is set at Rs 22.44, increasing to Rs 28.91 for 101 to 200 units. Monthly consumption between 201 and 300 units will cost Rs 33.10 per unit, while the 301 to 400-unit bracket is set at Rs 37.99.

As consumption increases, the rates rise to Rs 40.22 for 401 to 500 units, Rs 41.62 for 501 to 600 units, and Rs 42.76 for 601 to 700 units. The highest electricity tariff for domestic consumers, applicable to those using more than 700 units per month, will remain at Rs 47.69 per unit.
