Iran says US is seeking excuses for military intervention
Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has stated that the United States is creating the conditions for military intervention in the region.
In a letter to the Security Council, he asserted that U.S. policies are fueling political instability and violence, holding President Donald Trump responsible for these actions. According to the Ambassador, the U.S. is endangering Iran’s sovereignty and national security, while innocent civilians are losing their lives as a result of U.S. and Israeli actions.
The Iranian mission to the United Nations also issued a statement claiming that the U.S. is seeking pretexts for military action and that the ultimate goal of its policy is regime change in Iran. The statement noted that sanctions, threats, and internal chaos are being deliberately employed but maintained that this U.S. plan will fail once again, as it has in the past.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reacted strongly to the German Chancellor’s statements, remarking that Berlin is the “worst place” to give a lecture on human rights. He pointed to Germany’s silence regarding the killing of thousands in Gaza as a significant contradiction. According to Araghchi, human rights claims are unacceptable under such circumstances.
