Govt. Serious About Talks, But PTI Speaks in Many Languages: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the government is serious about talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), but there are questions about the PTI’s intentions and behavior. He clarified that the government is making its position clear in the talks, but the PTI is not able to instill trust due to speaking different languages.

Khawaja Asif said that PTI leaders use four to five languages ​​at a time. They speak in French, English, Urdu, and Punjabi. This makes it difficult for the public and the government to understand which language to trust. According to the Defense Minister, it is hindering the negotiations.

The Defense Minister said that some elements are sitting outside and making statements against Pakistan. He said that these actions are being carried out as part of a systematic strategy to create obstacles in the negotiations and weaken the government’s position. Khawaja Asif clarified that if the PTI is really serious about the negotiations, then the problems can be resolved and positive results can be achieved.

Khawaja Asif also expressed his opinion on the election of the opposition leader. He said that the question remains as to why the majority party did not make its own leader of the opposition. He said that Mahmood Khan Achakzai has become the opposition leader, and he respects him, but this process should be transparent for public trust.

The Defense Minister also appreciated the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif. He said that this leadership gives its ministers and workers complete political freedom despite their differences. According to Khawaja Asif, such leadership should be seen as a role model in politics.

Khawaja Asif said that the government is serious in the negotiations, but the PTI’s different languages, external interference, and the second-rate attitude of some leaders are obstacles to trust. He said that the people and the government expect the PTI to take a truly serious approach in the negotiations so that political stability and trust are created in the country.
