Murree Expressway Reopens After Heavy Snowfall

27 January, 2026 16:51

According to GTV News, the Murree Expressway and all other access roads to Murree are now available for traffic.

The entry routes were restricted as a precautionary measure following severe snowfall in Murree last week.

Despite the harsh cold weather, the Murree Expressway has remained accessible for tourists, according to the Traffic Police. According to a representative for the City Traffic Police Murree, traffic officials are still working in the field despite the difficult weather and are carrying out their jobs with determination.

Traffic wardens are forcing snow-stranded automobiles to safer spots. Tourists are also being continually instructed on safe driving habits in snowy situations.

Drivers have been instructed to maintain low speeds, closely adhere to lane discipline, and avoid double-lane driving.

During snowfall, traffic police advise drivers to utilize four-wheel-drive cars and tyre chains. Citizens are instructed to call the police helpline at 15 right away if there is an emergency or an accident.

The traffic police have also asked tourists to avoid unnecessary stops on slippery roads and to avoid taking selfies the roadside amid icy conditions.

Snowfall has dusted Murree and the Galiyat valleys with a thick white blanket. Murree received almost two feet of snow, whilst Galiyat received more than three feet.
