Truth Revealed Behind Government Employees’ Retirement Age Increase Notification

03 February, 2026 10:13

A fraudulent notification claiming an increase in the retirement age for government employees has gone viral on social media once again.

The viral post alleges that the Government of Pakistan has decided to raise the retirement age for all federal employees from 60 to 63 years, effective January 1, 2026. However, official sources have dismissed the document as fake and baseless.

According to officials, the circulating notification misuses the name of the Establishment Division and contains several glaring inconsistencies, including a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa logo, a fictitious “Ministry of Pakistan, Islamabad” letterhead, and a forged signature attributed to Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadeer Khan.

The fake document also lists alleged reference numbers from the Finance and Establishment Divisions. In reality, no such notification has been issued, and neither division has granted formal approval for an increase in the retirement age.

Authorities noted that similar rumors have surfaced previously, aimed at creating confusion and uncertainty among the public and civil servants. Relevant institutions have urged government employees not to rely on unverified social media posts and to consult only authentic government sources or the official gazette for such information.
