Did The Simpsons Predict Epstein Island? Fans Spot 25-Year-Old Episode About ‘Creeps on an Island’
The Simpsons has long been praised for its uncanny ability to “predict” real-life events. From advanced technology taking over daily life to global pandemics and even unexpected political outcomes, the show’s eerie foresight has captured the internet’s attention time and again.
Now, a 25-year-old episode is making headlines, as fans suggest it may have foreshadowed the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. The episode in question is Season 12’s “The Computer Wore Menace Shoes” (2000). In the storyline, Homer starts a gossip blog under the pseudonym Mr. X, initially exposing real secrets from Springfield. When the tips run out, he invents stories, but one fabricated claim turns out to be true. This leads to Homer being kidnapped by a group of powerful figures and dumped on a mysterious, secret island.
After escaping, Homer writes that “creeps on an island somewhere are secretly running the world.” This line has drawn comparisons to Epstein’s private Little Saint James and Great Saint James islands, which were allegedly used for illicit activities by influential people.
Social media quickly erupted with comments like, “The Simpsons told us about the Epstein Files first,” and “The Simpsons warned us about what was happening on Epstein’s island.” While mentions of Matt Groening in Department of Justice files have fueled speculation, experts caution that such connections do not imply guilt.
This is not the first time fans have highlighted the show’s eerie predictions. In 1997, The Simpsons referenced Ebola before outbreaks in Congo and Uganda; in 1995, “Lisa’s Wedding” featured The Shard in London years before its completion; and in Bart to the Future, Lisa’s presidential attire resembled Kamala Harris’ later look.
The episode continues to intrigue viewers, as many debate whether the show’s fictional “creeps on an island” was just satire—or a remarkable case of art imitating life.
