Balochistan Government Decides to Build Concrete Wall Around Quetta Red Zone
The Balochistan government has decided to construct a concrete wall to strengthen security in Quetta’s Red Zone. The decision was taken amid rising security concerns in the provincial capital.
The move was approved during a high-level meeting chaired by Secretary Communications and Works, Babar Khan. Senior officials from relevant departments also attended the meeting.
Concrete Wall to Be Built in Phases
According to officials, construction work will begin in phases. In the first phase, a concrete wall will be installed at Edhi Chowk, which is considered one of the most sensitive entry points of the Red Zone.
After completing the initial phase, similar concrete barriers will be constructed at all entry and exit routes leading into the Red Zone. The aim is to control movement and prevent any security threats.
Secretary Babar Khan stated that the wall will help law enforcement agencies monitor access points more effectively. He added that the project is part of a broader plan to improve security infrastructure in Quetta.
Road Closures Create Problems for Citizens
Meanwhile, strict security measures introduced after January 31 have caused difficulties for residents. Several major roads in Quetta have been either closed or converted into one-way routes.
These include Pishin Stop, Inscomb Road, and Spini Link Road. Due to these changes, commuters are facing traffic congestion and longer travel times.
Local residents have expressed concern over daily travel disruptions. Many are urging authorities to balance security needs with public convenience.
Government Stresses Public Safety
Officials insist that these steps are necessary to ensure public safety. They say the Red Zone hosts important government buildings and requires enhanced protection.
The Balochistan government has assured citizens that efforts will be made to reduce inconvenience once the security plan is fully implemented.
