Pakistani TikToker Killed in Taxila, Police Probe Threat Calls
A Pakistani female TikToker has been shot dead which added to the alarming number of violence-against-women cases in the country. The victim, Shamsu Bibi, also known as Gilamina Ayesha on social media, had amassed over one million followers on TikTok before she was killed in a shooting in Taxila.
According to reports, Ayesha received a call and later left her home in a car in Taxila. She was travelling with her 12-year-old sister when armed men riding motorcycles allegedly intercepted their car. Gunmen allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, resulting in Ayesha’s immediate death and a subsequent crash. Her 12-year-old sister was seriously wounded in the incident.
It has been reported that the victim had financial disputes with two individuals who allegedly made frequent threats against her. An FIR has been lodged by her father against the alleged suspects. Police are examining Ayesha’s social media accounts and call history as part of the investigation to determine who was involved.
Police are likely to record the sister’s statement when her health recovers, as she observed the attack.
Police has received post-mortem report of the victim and the body was handed over to the family. They have promised thorough investigation and justice to be delivered in this case.
