Sindh Government Spokesperson Rejects MQM’s ‘Province Card’

Sindh government spokesperson Sadia Javed has strongly rejected the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s demand for a new province, accusing MQM leaders of presenting only “half the truth” about the Constitution to mislead the public. Responding to MQM leaders including Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Mustafa Kamal, she said the Constitution clearly provides a procedure for creating new provinces and warned that attempts to spread hatred between Sindh’s urban and rural populations would not be allowed.

Javed questioned MQM’s criticism of the 18th Amendment, saying that if the party genuinely respected the Constitution, it should not target what she described as its spirit and federalist framework. She called the party’s “province card” an attempt to overcome what she termed its political bankruptcy, while accusing its leadership of seeking political influence through emotional slogans, pressure tactics and what she described as a “national dialogue” aimed at gaining access to power.

She said Karachi’s voters would now judge political parties by their performance rather than press conferences and scripted narratives. Javed also rejected calls to divide Sindh along geographical lines, saying citizens of the province’s urban and rural areas should not be pitted against each other. She further challenged Mustafa Kamal to account for incomplete projects from his tenure before criticizing the city’s condition, and said attempts to create divisions in Sindh would not succeed.
