Okara Police Constable Abdullah Shoots SHO Muhammad Tariq, Officer Critically Injured

Okara, Punjab: A police constable shot and seriously injured a station house officer (SHO) during a patrol in Okara city, officials confirmed on Sunday.

The incident took place within the limits of Satghara Police Station. According to police, Constable Abdullah opened fire on SHO Muhammad Tariq while the officer was on routine patrol duty.

The bullet hit SHO Muhammad Tariq in the abdomen, leaving him critically injured. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors are providing medical treatment. His condition is reported to be serious but stable.

After the shooting, Constable Abdullah fled the scene. However, Okara police launched a swift operation and later arrested the suspect. District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Rashid took immediate notice of the incident and formed a special team to ensure the arrest.

The DPO said the suspect was captured in a dramatic operation and assured that strict action would be taken.

A separate investigation team, led by SP Investigation Malik Daud, has been constituted to determine the exact motives and circumstances behind the attack.

Police have registered a case against Constable Abdullah under charges of attempted murder. Departmental action has also been initiated, and further investigation is underway.

Senior police officials have stated that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands and that accountability will be ensured.
