PM Shehbaz Sharif to Make Final Call on Pakistan vs India T20 World Cup 2026 Match

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2026 Participation Decision to Be Finalized This Week: PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to make the final decision on whether Pakistan will play or continue its boycott of the T20 World Cup 2026 match against India, sources told GTV News on Monday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister today to brief him on discussions with the International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation. The PCB has so far maintained a decision not to play against arch-rival India, showing solidarity with Bangladesh, who withdrew from the tournament due to security concerns in New Delhi.
A day earlier, high-level talks were held between the PCB, ICC, and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for over five hours. PCB acted as a key coordinator, while BCB President Aminul Islam and ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja attended the meeting. During the discussion, the ICC reportedly responded positively to Bangladesh’s demands, and a formula to resolve the issue has been prepared. Proposals were exchanged between the ICC and BCB to ensure fairness and security for all participating teams.
Sources say the Prime Minister’s decision will be crucial in determining Pakistan’s stance in the tournament and whether the marquee Group-stage match against India will proceed. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has drawn massive attention, with Pakistan placed in a group alongside India, Namibia, the Netherlands, and the United States.
This is a developing story, and updates will follow as the Prime Minister announces his final decision.
