Experts Say Border Sealing Is a Defensive Step to Protect Pakistanis

These reports emphasize that for Pakistan, border management with Afghanistan is not merely a matter of customs or trade, but a fundamental issue of survival and security.

As terrorist operations originating from Afghan soil have increased—resulting in the martyrdom of both security personnel and civilians—the closure of border crossings is viewed as a justified measure to protect Pakistani citizens. Pakistan maintains that terrorism remains the primary obstacle to normalizing relations with Kabul.
