Islamabad, February 18, 2026 – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced that all Pakistanis applying for their first Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) will now receive it free of charge.
The policy applies to citizens who have reached 18 years of age and are applying for their first non-smart CNIC. Applicants can get their cards issued at any NADRA centre within 15 days without paying any fees.
Processing Times and Paid Options
While the first CNIC is free, NADRA continues to offer faster processing for those who need it:
Urgent service: Card delivered within 12 days at a fee of Rs 1,150
Executive service: Card delivered within 6 days at a fee of Rs 2,150
This allows citizens to choose the option that suits their needs.
Online Appointment System
NADRA has introduced an appointment booking feature via the Pak ID mobile application. Applicants can schedule their visit to any NADRA centre across Pakistan.
To book, users open the updated Pak ID app, select “Appointment”, and choose a convenient time slot. NADRA advises arriving at least 10 minutes before the scheduled time to ensure smooth processing.
New Facility for Pakistanis in UAE
NADRA has also launched a mobile registration facility for Pakistanis living in the United Arab Emirates. This new service allows overseas Pakistanis to apply for CNICs and other identity services without traveling to Pakistan.
The initiative aims to make CNIC issuance easier and more accessible for citizens both inside and outside the country.
