BISP Announces Increased Stipends Ahead of Ramadan 2026

18 February, 2026 11:04

Islamabad, February 18, 2026 – The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has announced an increase in stipends across its key programs ahead of Ramadan 2026, providing financial relief to 10 million families nationwide.

BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid revealed that the Benazir Kafalat quarterly stipend will rise from Rs 13,500 to Rs 14,500, with the increased amount disbursed during Ramadan. She described the adjustment as a “Ramadan gift” to beneficiaries, noting that it reflects BISP’s effort to support vulnerable families amid inflation.

Benazir Education Stipends and Nashonuma Program

The Benazir Education Stipends program will see an additional Rs 500 for beneficiaries whose children maintain at least 70% school attendance. This aims to encourage educational continuity while providing financial assistance.

Similarly, the Benazir Nashonuma program, supporting pregnant women and lactating mothers, will also receive a Rs 500 increase. The program provides nutritional supplements and financial support, helping combat child stunting and improve maternal health.

Financial Inclusion and Digital Payments

Senator Khalid highlighted that 10 million women beneficiaries now have bank accounts, marking a historic milestone in financial inclusion in Pakistan. Under a new digital system, beneficiaries will receive free SIM cards linked to digital wallets.

Each disbursement will trigger SMS notifications, and women can withdraw only what they need. The system also introduces interoperability across seven partner banks, allowing beneficiaries to approach any agent of their choice for cash withdrawal.

Skills Development and Vocational Training

BISP continues its focus on skills development through the Hunarmand program, a vocational training initiative. Currently, about 1,500 trainees are near graduation, while 5,000 new beneficiaries have been enrolled. The program equips participants with market-ready skills for local and international job opportunities.

Ramadan Message from BISP Chairperson

Senator Khalid urged Pakistanis to use Ramadan as a time to serve others. “Ramadan is not just about fasting from food. It is about purging negativity and doing good. Share your joys with the less privileged. Make this Ramadan a month of ease and compassion for all,” she said.
