10 Martyred, 50 Injured in Israeli Airstrikes on Lebanon

BEIRUT—At least 10 people were martyred and 50 others injured following a series of Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon’s eastern Beqaa Valley on Friday. The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed the casualties, noting that the strikes hit residential areas, including an apartment building in the Baalbek region.

The Israeli military claimed responsibility for the operation, stating that its forces targeted Hezbollah “command centers” used to store weapons and funds. According to the IDF, these sites constituted a violation of the existing ceasefire understandings. Security sources have confirmed that a senior Hezbollah official, Hussein Yaghi, was among those killed in the attack.

Local news agencies warned that the scale of this attack—one of the deadliest in recent weeks—severely threatens the fragile U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement. The truce, established in late 2024, has faced increasing strain as both sides exchange frequent accusations of violations.
