Shehbaz Sharif Arrives in Qatar on Two-Day Official Visit

According to state-run PTV News, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Qatar on Monday night for a two-day official visit.

The PTV News post on social media site X stated that he was welcomed at King Hammad International Airport by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar Muhammad Aamer, Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, and other diplomatic personnel.

According to the post, the premier is accompanied by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, his assistant Tariq Fatemi, and Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

The Foreign Office (FO) had earlier announced that the visit would include a meeting between the premier and the Qatari emir.

The FO stated in a news release that Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had invited the visit.

PM Shehbaz and Sheikh Tamim will meet bilaterally during his visit, “covering the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, including political engagement, economic collaboration, energy partnership, and people-to-people exchanges,” according to the FO.

“The two parties will also look into new areas of collaboration, especially in the fields of energy, trade, investment, infrastructure development, and exporting labor.”

The FO emphasized the “longstanding partnership characterised by mutual trust and close coordination at regional and international forums” between the two nations.

The statement went on to say, “The visit will also give both leaderships a chance to share their perspectives on regional and international events of shared interest, reaffirming their resolve to work closely for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.”

The visit “underlines their shared commitment to further strengthening multifaceted cooperation and reflects the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two countries,” the FO said.

Because of their same beliefs and ideals, Qatar and Pakistan have close diplomatic ties.

In September 2025, PM Shehbaz made two trips to Doha: one to show support for the country following Israeli strikes, and another to attend an Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) joint meeting.

Reiterating Pakistan’s “all-out support and solidarity” for the Gulf state, he had met with the emir of Qatar twice.
