Update on Fresh Currency Notes for Eid ul Fitr 2026 in Pakistan

As Eidul Fitr 2026 approaches, people across Pakistan are getting ready to find fresh currency notes to give as “Eidi” to children. Eidi is a beloved tradition where elders gift cash to younger family members, and crisp new notes make the celebration even more special.

Update on Fresh Currency Notes for Eid 2026
The State Bank of Pakistan has not yet officially confirmed the issuance of fresh currency notes for this year. In previous years, the SBP released millions of rupees in new notes to support the Eidi tradition. However, in some years, like 2023, no fresh notes were issued ahead of Eid.

SMS Service for Fresh Currency Notes
In past years, SBP offered an SMS-based system to reserve fresh notes at designated bank branches. Citizens could send an SMS with their 13-digit CNIC number and the e-branch code to 8877. They would then receive a reply with a redemption code, the branch address, and a validity period. Using this code, customers could visit the branch with their CNIC and a copy to collect fresh notes.

Typically, an individual could get three packets of Rs. 10 notes and one packet each of Rs. 50 and Rs. 100 notes. It is not yet confirmed if this SMS service will be available for Eid 2026.

When is Eidul Fitr 2026?
According to predictions, Eidul Fitr 2026 is expected to fall on March 20, though the final date will be confirmed by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after moon sighting.

People are advised to follow official SBP channels for updates and avoid buying notes at high prices from street sellers.
