The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) faced selling pressure on Monday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index closing down by more than 450 points.

The index opened in negative territory and fell to an intraday low of 165,918.34 points. It later recovered, rising above 166,400 points and reaching a high of 166,698.46 points.

The market remained within a narrow range of around 166,400 to 166,600 points for much of the late morning and early afternoon. However, selling pressure increased in the second half of the session, pushing the index down towards its daily low.

At the close, the KSE-100 Index settled at 165,966.08 points, down 453.63 points, or 0.27%.

On Friday, the PSX recorded a small gain as investors remained cautious due to a lack of fresh market triggers and high global oil prices. The benchmark index rose by 233.55 points, or 0.14%, to close at 166,419.72 points.
