Hanif Abbasi Defends Governor’s Rule in KP, Criticises Fazlur Rehman’s Statements

19 October, 2026 17:37

Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has said that governor’s rule was imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to the deteriorating law and order situation in the province. Speaking to the media in Islamabad, he alleged that billions of rupees had been misappropriated through corruption and illegal contracts in KP. He also criticised Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, claiming that his remarks stemmed from political frustration over not securing power.

Abbasi said targeting state institutions for political purposes was condemnable. He also recalled that allegations had been levelled against Fazlur Rehman during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. The railways minister expressed concern over the JUI-F chief’s recent statements, saying they had caused distress among the public and the families of fallen soldiers.

Emphasising the sacrifices of security personnel, Abbasi said that martyrs were laying down their lives to defend the country rather than for financial gain. He added that their sacrifices were essential to Pakistan’s security and survival, stressing that statements concerning the armed forces and their personnel should be mindful of the sacrifices made by those who had given their lives for the nation.
