Australian MP Helen Haines Critically Injured in Suspected Deliberate Car Incident

A 43-year-old man from nearby Tarrawingee was reportedly arrested at the scene by a passer-by. Police have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether the collision was deliberate. Haines’s family expressed gratitude to bystanders who provided swift assistance and to the healthcare workers involved in her treatment.

The incident has raised renewed concerns about the safety of Australian politicians amid reports of increasing threats against elected representatives. Minister Tony Burke said threats against politicians had risen over the past year. However, authorities have yet to establish a motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.
