How to get your bike M-Tag in Islamabad before Feb 28 – Fees and locations
The Islamabad Capital Territory administration has made it mandatory for all motorcycles to have an M-Tag. The final date for installation is February 28, 2026. Starting March 1, 2026, traffic police will stop any bike without an M-Tag, impound it, and take it to a police station. To retrieve the bike, you must pay a fine and get the tag installed.
There are no exemptions. This rule applies to regular bikes, heavy motorcycles, and ride-hailing services like Bykea and InDrive.
M-Tag Requirements for Bikes
To get an M-Tag, you need:
Original CNIC of the owner
Motorcycle registration book or card
The bike itself for tag installation
M-Tag Fee
The process is quick and costs Rs. 250. Staff will attach the electronic sticker on the front of the bike, usually on the speedometer or another visible flat surface for scanners.
M-Tag Locations in Islamabad
Authorities have set up 13 registration points across Islamabad. Some locations are busy due to high demand. Key spots include:
Toll plazas: 26 Number Chungi and 17 Meel (24-hour counters)
Urban areas: Sector I-8, F-9 Park, Kachnar Park, and Gulberg
Most centers operate from 10:00 AM to midnight and remain open on weekends and holidays until the deadline. To avoid long waits, visit 24-hour toll plaza counters late at night or early morning. Peak hours at Gulberg or I-9 can have 60–90 minute waits.
Bike riders in Islamabad are advised to get their M-Tag installed before February 28 to avoid fines and keep riding smoothly from March 1.
