Six US Soldiers Killed in Iranian Strikes, CENTCOM Confirms
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that six US service members have been killed during the latest escalation with Iran.
In a statement released on Monday, CENTCOM said, “As of 4 pm ET, March 2, six U.S. service members have been killed in action.” The command added that US forces recently recovered the remains of two previously unaccounted-for personnel from a facility struck during Iran’s initial attacks.
According to ABC News, citing unnamed sources, all six personnel were serving in Kuwait and died in a single incident.
Escalation After US-Israeli Strikes
The development follows large-scale strikes launched on Saturday by the United States and Israel against Iran. The attacks reportedly caused infrastructure damage and civilian casualties.
In response, Iran carried out retaliatory operations targeting Israeli territory and US military installations across West Asia. US forces stationed in Kuwait were among those hit during the counterstrikes.
Conflicting Claims Over Downed Jets
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it shot down three US fighter jets over Kuwait. However, CENTCOM stated that three US-operated F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft were downed by Kuwaiti air defenses in what it described as a possible case of “friendly fire.”
The situation remains fluid, with both sides issuing conflicting accounts as regional tensions continue to rise.
