Iran Shoots Down Another US F-15 Fighter Jet

06 March, 2026 09:27

March 6, 2026 – Tehran: Iran has claimed that its air defense systems shot down another American fighter jet during the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel. The claim was made by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Saturday, according to Iranian state media reports.

Officials said the aircraft was a McDonnell Douglas F‑15 Eagle fighter jet. They claimed the aircraft was intercepted and destroyed near Iran’s southwestern border by the air defense units of the IRGC Aerospace Force.

Iranian sources stated that the country’s advanced missile defense system successfully targeted the jet during an air operation in the region.

US Rejects Claim of Fighter Jet Loss

However, the United States has strongly denied the claim. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement on the social platform X (formerly Twitter) saying the reports were false.

CENTCOM said there was no evidence that any US F-15E fighter jet had been shot down in Iranian territory or nearby areas. The command added that the information spreading online about the aircraft loss was simply rumors.

The US military also urged people not to rely on unverified social media reports regarding the situation.

Claims of Fourth Jet Loss in War

Iranian media suggested that if the claim is confirmed, it would be the fourth F-15 fighter jet lost by the United States during the current conflict involving Iran, the US, and Israel.

However, no independent confirmation has been provided so far. Military analysts say many reports during wartime remain difficult to verify immediately.

Reports of Casualties in Ongoing Conflict

Meanwhile, reports have also revealed growing casualties from the conflict across the Middle East.

According to recent figures cited in regional media:

  • 1,230 people have reportedly been killed in Iran due to US and Israeli attacks, including 175 female students and teachers.

  • 11 people have died in Iran’s missile attacks on Israel.

  • 6 American soldiers have reportedly been killed in Iranian attacks.

  • 77 people were killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon.

Other reported casualties include:

  • 1 death in an Iranian attack in Bahrain

  • 4 deaths, including two soldiers, in Kuwait

  • 1 death linked to an attack on an oil tanker in Oman

  • 3 deaths reported in attacks in the United Arab Emirates

The conflict continues to raise fears of wider regional escalation as military actions and retaliatory strikes intensify.
