The announcement was made by former President Donald Trump on March 5, 2026. Mullin, who previously represented Oklahoma in Congress, will assume the role effective March 31, 2026, while awaiting Senate confirmation.

Who is Christie Mullin?

Christie Mullin has been by Markwayne’s side since childhood. The couple grew up together in Westville, Oklahoma, attended Stillwell High School, and later pursued higher studies at Missouri Valley College, where Markwayne had a wrestling scholarship.

In 1997, Christie and Markwayne married. Shortly after, they postponed their studies to manage the family plumbing business, Mullin Plumbing, when Markwayne’s father fell ill. At the time, the business had only four employees. Together, the couple expanded it to over 300 employees, making it one of the region’s largest plumbing companies.

Christie is not just a business partner. She is a mother, community leader, and mentor. She sponsors youth ministries at the Coweta Assembly of God Church, coaches girls’ gymnastics, and teaches self-defense as a 2nd-degree blackbelt in karate.

Christie and Markwayne co-founded several successful ventures before his political career:

Christie Mullin and Family: Raising Six Children

The couple’s journey to parenthood was not easy. Christie faced endometriosis, making conception challenging. After seven years and a miscarriage, they welcomed their first child, Jim Mullin. He recently married his partner, Aubrey.

Following Jim, they had Andrew and Larra. Later, Christie and Markwayne adopted twins, Ivy and Lynette, in 2013, who were relatives living with their great aunts. In 2017, the couple adopted another son, Jayce, whose biological father had passed away.
