Train fares rise after diesel price hike – check details

Pakistan Railways has announced an increase in train fares following a 20% rise in diesel prices.

According to a railways spokesperson:

• Economy class fares will rise by 5%.

• AC class fares will increase by 10%.

• Freight train fares have been raised by 20%.

The spokesperson added that Pakistan Railways will bear the additional operational costs itself.

The new fares will apply from March 9 for all passenger and freight trains. However, the increase will not affect bookings made before this date.

The railways official said the fare hike was unavoidable due to the rise in diesel prices.
