Karachi Mayor Lays Foundation Stone for Azeempura Flyover, Announces Major Infrastructure Projects
Mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the flyover at Azeempura intersection along with the extension of surrounding roads.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Wahab said that the construction of the flyover has officially begun and “the project will be completed within 100 days.”
He added that the estimated cost of the development project is 1477 billion rupees. “The flyover’s length will be around 700 meters, while constructions of roads around the flyover will also be part of the construction project,” he said.
Mayor Wahab emphasized, “There is same city authority, same laws and the mandate, but being led by the PPP thus the work is moving ahead.” He also addressed critics, stating, “Some people only used to criticize, they should their criticism, we will continue to work and perform.”
In addition to the flyover project, the mayor noted that work on 26 roads is currently in progress across Karachi. He mentioned that the Karimabad Underpass will be opened for traffic after Eid, and an underpass will also be constructed at Jinnah Avenue in collaboration with the FWO.
Highlighting the city’s overall development plans, Mayor Wahab said that between 70 to 75 billion rupees will be spent on Karachi’s infrastructure projects this year, signaling a significant push to modernize the city’s roads and transport facilities.
